West Midland Swimming Championships 2018

This five day Championship, spread over the last two weekends at Coventry Leisure Centre, has again proved the high quality of the RWSSC swim program, with a record medals haul for the club at the age group level.

Not only giving chances to win medals, the championships, being in the qualifying window, provide big opportunities to improve a swimmers ranking for the big end of season British and Home Nation Championships. So you would expect fierce competition. With a high quality entry and some of the days having a really tough schedule, the racing provided that exciting environment, to which the swimmers reacted admirably.

It gives the coaching team a chance to see how the swimmers react under the pressure of final sessions. To see if they can cope mentally and physically. It also shows their level of skill and technique compared to other club competitors. So it was gratifying to see our swimmers proving all their hard work on these processes, could cope under pressure with their outstanding performances.

Overall we won 32 medals, 11 gold, 8 Silver and 13 Bronze medals. Remarkably, 95% the individual entries reached finals . The 9 relays swum produced 3 golds and 3 silver medals.

Outstanding performances and gold medals went to the following individual swimmers;

Chloe Harris – 3 Golds 13 year category

Erin Hull – 1 Gold 13 year category

Keeley Murcott – 1 Gold 16 years Category
