Races in January

Both the Elite and National Development squad started their 2018 competition diary nice and early at the Hengrove leisure Centre, Bristol with the first Long course open meet of the season. This is a benchmark meet to set the standard for the more important events later in the year.

British Records Smashed!

The Royal School Elite Swim Programme have been very busy over the past few weeks! Matthew Richards has been in form to break numerous Welsh and British Records. Competing in the Swansea open meet at the start of December Matt raced the 200 Freestyle against GB senior swimmers Daniel Jervis and Daniel Jones, pushing them all the way. Matthew finished the meet with a new British Record taking down the old time of 1.53.34 set by Suleman Butt in 2012. Matthew went 1.52.32 in the heat and 1.51.29 in the final crushing the old time.

Christmas Cracker!

The Royal School Elite swim team headed to Rugby last weekend for our third short course meet. This is the end of the first cycle for this season and now we move from short course to Long course. The swimmers all start the season with process goals which they are trying improve over the first cycle and this meet should be the culmination of that work.

Wigan Best Future Stars

Wigan Best Future Stars

The Elite and National Development Squad headed north last weekend for our first ever visit to the Wigan Best meet and second targeted open meet of the season. Friday evening saw the distance events where the tone was set for a highly successful weekend with RWS swimmers breaking 19 meet records. The aim of this meet is to see whether improvements have been made since the first meet 6 weeks previous. Fitness is being built up and skills being honed in the early short course season.
