UBSC open meet - January 2017

UBSC open meet - January 2017

It was great to see my age group squad in a 50m pool for the first time. It’s a different experience for the swimmers and myself. But after big improvements in the short course season quite a few of the squad are quite inexperienced at long course.

Chloe Harris continued her rapid improvement with lots of great swims. She, Bethany Smith and Ryan James seem to be pulling each other to new heights, which is exactly what I want. Isabella Gillott and Christian Roe both made their RWS debuts and performed well. Frankie Bach had some massive best times. Katie Hawkins and Keeley Murcott got in to senior finals with their 200 breaststroke and 200 butterfly respectively. Abby Shepherd swam a really good 200 frontcrawl.

I could go on, but overall we had over 100 best times for the Age squad alone. So a good start and good to see how the squad has moved on from the end of last season.

The Elite guys who swam continued their impressive early season form. Coming back after Christmas, the swimmers had kept themselves in shape. They have set their season off nicely to build towards their target events

Marc and myself were satisfied with what we saw. Taking away different areas we need to work on. Thank you to Christina Derbyshire for her hard work team managing and all the background work and Mark and Kate for the work on the entries.

Keep up the hard work, remember your end of season goals. This is still early season, as we move in to the Long Course season.

Notable swims in this Level 1 meet for the swimmers who attend the school came with gold medals for;-
