Hillingdon open meet - December 2016

The Age group squad showed yet again an improvement from the Leicester meet a month earlier. Yvonne who team managed praised their behaviour and team spirit. The process goals being set are certainly now being understood and more determination to achieve them whilst racing is the result. Around 70% of swims were best times, which having only raced a month earlier is very exciting and puts us in a good place for the coming Long course season. A few highlights were Jack Jones going 58 for 100 fc in the final and around 10 minutes later posting a best time for 200 fly. Ella Shaw dropping to 1.02 in the 100 fc, Ryan James breaststroke showing big improvement, Chloe Harris and Bima Zulkarnaen both having exceptional meets, Bethany Smith dropping 7 seconds on her 200 brs (only to be dqd on a technical issue). But overall a really impressive showing. What was a pleasing aspect for me was how strong and fit we looked particularly at the end of races.

The Elite guys who swam continued their impressive early season form. A couple of highlights being Dan Johnson going well under 5 minutes for the 400 IM and Laura Hawkins going 1.11.5 in the 100 breaststroke final.

For myself and Yvonne it was a long tiring weekend, but the swimmers were really easy to manage and we appreciated that greatly. Thank you to Yvonne for her hard work, Christina for your background work and Mark and Kate for the work on the entries.

Keep up the hard work, remember your end of season goals. This is still early season, as we move in to the Long Course season.
