Leicester open meet - coach report

Last weekend 18th -20th November saw the Elite and Age group squad go and take part in the second targeted short course meet of the season.

The results were fantastic.

The Age group squad showed a better understanding of the process goal from that at Matlock and also improved skills which has been a focus in training. This resulted in over 90 best times in 120 swims. Most of which were big drops!!! Big highlights were Ellla Shaw’s 200 IM, Jack Jones 200 backstroke, Bethany Smith 50m breaststroke, Dan Parsons 200 Breaststroke, Katie Leary 400 freestyle, Katie Hawkins 100 breaststroke and generally all the 200 freestylers.

The Elite guys continued their impressive early season form winning bags of medals and plenty of cash against some tough opposition!!!!

Impressive swims came from Holly Shepherd in the 100m backstroke, Lewis Hodgetts in the 100 Fly, Matt Richards in the 200 breaststroke and countless other noteworthy performances.

Team spirit was by far the best at the meet, not just on poolside but from the balcony as well.

The coaching team all agreed the land based work is now feeding in to the pool. Making the swimmers better all-round athletes. The swimmers all looking fitter and mentally prepared better for racing.

Keep up the hard work, remember your end of season goals. This is still early season as we go in to a heavy phase of training.
