Royal School swimmers dominate at British championships 14th-18th April - London Aquatics Centre

The Royal School swimmers have proven, yet again, that they're a force to be reckoned with at the British Championships in London this month!

Tom Derbyshire in Year 12, has broken the English and British Age Group record in the 1500 Freestyle with a time of 15.22, qualifying him for the European Junior Games in Baku, to be held on the 21st-28th June, 2015. This is a similar event to the Youth Olympics but for older swimmers . With his new Personal Best time he is ranked second in Europe behind a boy from Germany. Tom also won the 17/18 year old age group!

Niamh Hofland in Year 8, was another standout, making the final of 13/14 year old 400 Freestyle, and coming in an incredible third place, despite being only 13! Niamh also bagged the bronze in the 800 Freestyle and finished a very respectable fifth place in the 400 I.M!

Alice Dearing in Year 13, also represented the school, competing in the 800 Freestyle, 1500 Freestyle, 400 I.M and the 400 Freestyle. Alice is currently focusing on her upcoming trip to Cancun Mexico where she will compete for a place in the World Open Water Championships.

Congratulations to the other Royal swimmers who competed at the British Championships; Lewis Hodgetts who competed in the 100 and 200 Butterfly, Shannon Robinson who competed in the 200 Backstroke and Alicia Dingle who competed in the 50 Freestyle!
