Tom Derbyshire won 1500m Freestyle gold to cap a memorable second day for Great Britain at the 2016 European Junior Championships in Hungary. The Royal Wolverhampton School swimmer took an axe to his PB to claim gold in 15:08.31. The young Brit’s time was more than 14 seconds faster than his previous lifetime best – a 15:22.58 effort from the 2015 British Championships in London.
RWS Swimmer Niamh Hofland has been in action this week in Hódmezővásárhely, Hungary. The Dutch team are comprised of 12 women and four men who trained for a week at a training camp in Debrecen, preparing for the competition. Niamh has been competing for Holland in the 800fc and 400fc as one of the youngest individual swimmers at the meet.
RWS swimmer Tom Derbyshire swam to success on the European scene after landing two gold medals But Derbyshire was much more comfortable in the 1,500m race, against coming out on top with his Ukrainian rival again in second place. A 15 minutes 25.93 seconds finish saw him touch in an impressive 23 seconds ahead of Garashchenko.

RWS Head Coach Marc Spackman's accolades include competing in an Olympic final, winning three World Championship Medals and holding numerous European and British records. Marc has also guided swimmers to Olympic & World Championship teams winning medals, representing Great Britain as a coach and being awarded Youth Coach of the Year.
